Learning to Cook

As part of my learning to be healthier I have also been learning how to cook. Here are the things I have successfully learned to cook:

1. Chicken fajitas
2. Broccoli beef
3. Honey Dijon glazed salmon
4. Nutella tacos
5. Greek salad

I don't have to cook often but I like the idea of being able to when it is necessary. I think I am going to try to cook at least one new thing a week and post it on the blog.

Jeans Part 2

I got both pairs of the jeans I ordered last week today and the size 18 fit. I don't know if Old Navy runs large but the size 18 were Old Navy brand. Anyways here are the pictures. I haven't washed them yet and the size 18 kinda smelled like smoke so I will need to do that before I can wear them for reals.

The side view really makes my butt look big. I tried the size 16 on too but they couldn't cover my entire butt so I will have to wait a little while for those.

Jeans

So I just got on ebay and bought a pair of size 18 jeans and a pair of size 16 jeans. I currently just started fitting back into my size 20 jeans and I wanted to have something to wear when I get smaller but will hopefully not have to wear them for too long. Also I think having those jeans to try on will help me gauge how I am doing when the scale doesn't want to cooperate. I have been thinking about some of my goals for if I loose weight and I don't really have any now except for the tattoo I am planning to get if I can get down to 200 lbs by my birthday. It seems like a lot to lose but if I am on average losing about 2 lbs a week I should be able to make that easily. It is crazy I always thought a size 16 jean would be crazy small but a lot of women around 200 lbs wear that and some even wear a size 14. I know that I want to cut my hair really short but I want to wait until I have lost more weight for that as well. I also like the idea of growing it out (except for the occasional trim) until it is long enough that when I cut it I can donate the hair. My hair grows super fast so I don't know how long that will take but I think a short cut would look cuter if my face was slimmer so I will see as I go and maybe someday I will be ready for that. I have been kind of wanting to grow my hair out since it has been shorter (as in above my shoulders) for so long. I don't know about dying my hair though because I am not super fond of my natural color but I am not sure about the logistics of donating dyed hair. I am going to post a recent picture of myself because I think that shirt makes me look especially thin.

Hiking

Fun Weekend

I had a good hike yesterday before me and Joy went to Jenny's house. I did three laps around Indian Rock and it took me about 70 minutes if I deduct time for stopping to take pictures and get a rock out of my shoe. I ate a little more yesterday than I would have liked but it is harder when you go out to eat and can't control what you are eating as much. I still was under my limit of 1800 calories so I am not upset or anything. I am gonna post a few pictures from my hike yesterday. I am also going hiking with my friend Jamie later today.

Gettin' Little

Because of some prompting from Joanne I have decided to start up a fitness blog again. I didn't want to use my old one because I am not running this time. Running was just too hard on me and I was bad at it. I have been doing pretty good for the last month or so. I quit drinking pop, I have started exercising everyday, and I am trying to start up a strength training routine. I lost about 15 lbs last month but then it just kind of stalled so I have decided to not weigh myself for about a month to see how it is then. I know I am eating right because I am eating less processed food and making sure to count my calories and monitor my water intake so I am just going to rely on know I am doing everything right and hope my body figures that out. I made homemade broccoli beef tonight, it was pretty good. I was worried it would be worse. I have been trying to learn a little bit about cooking for reals and I think I am starting to learn some stuff so that is good. I do the elliptical each morning, I used to do it for 45 minutes but I have decided to switch it up to a harder program that is 60 minutes and burns a lot more calories. I have also started hiking on the weekends usually with a friend but I am going to have to go alone Saturday morning because there was no one to go with me. I am okay with that though because I will probably just listen to a book on tape or maybe music while I hike instead. I am kind of all over the place in this blog but it was a spur of the moment thing so I didn't really have anything planned out that I wanted to say. Enjoy! ;)
